I’ve been checking out others people’s blogs lately. I want to see what other people do on their blogs and how they use Facebook. While blog hopping, I came across one called Show My Face. It’s pretty eclectic from what I could tell in my brief visit, but I liked it. It had a feature called Six Words Saturdays. Then, I came across another blog called Allison’s Book Bag and she had linked to Show My Face and was also running a Six Words Saturdays post. I loved it. It’s a spin off from the book Not Quite What I Was Planning: Six-Word Memoirs by Writers Famous & Obscure, edited by Smith Magazine. According to ShowMyFace the book is based on Ernest Hemingway’s short story, “For Sale: baby shoes, never worn.” I read those six words and I knew exactly what happened. I knew the whole story in those six, short words.
Can you tell a story in six words? Let’s give it a try! I am going to join ShowMyFace.com and Allisonsbookbag.com in hosting Six Words Saturdays. Expect a post from me on Saturdays that tell a story in just six words. Join me. Subscribe. Leave a comment and give me your story in just six words.
OK, I’ll start. Warm weather here. Husband gone fishing.
That is the story of my life spring, summer, and fall. If the weather is warm, Jones is on the lake. Now that he’s retired, he fishes two or three times a week. The only reason he’s not fishing every day is because his back can’t take sitting in the boat five and six days in a row. That’s my story. Warm weather here. Husband gone fishing.
I look forward to hearing your stories, and– since you can only use six– every word counts!
